Tom Allen

In my more than 40 years of legal experience, I have practiced almost every type of civil law. I graduated from Western State University, College of Law in 1977 and was sworn in by the State Bar of California that same year. I have been in continuous practice since that time. I have practiced in everything from a one-man shop to a partnership in one of the most prestigious law firms in the country.

I began my practice essentially representing plaintiffs. After several years, I changed to representing physicians, nurses and other healthcare professionals. I also represented hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and similar healthcare companies. Throughout my time working on the defense side, I gained valuable training, experience, and knowledge into the tactics and inner workings of elder abuse and medical malpractice defense litigation. Using this accumulated knowledge, I now chose to narrow my practice; I now represent those abused elders, dependent adults, and their families who so desperately need and deserve legal protection.

I also am proud of my broad appellate court experience. I have written, ghost written, or acted as the primary trial attorney in multiple cases which resulted in written appellate court decisions, two of which are in the unique area of elder abuse litigation. I pride myself in finding and creating new legal theories and approaches. One of the finest compliments I receive is when an opposing counsel says “I’ve never seen this before.”

Some of the other things I am proud of are:
I am a United States Air Force Veteran
I was Non-Commissioned Officer of the Year for Ubon AFB, Ubon, Thailand
I have been awarded multiple Phi Rho Pi National Forensic Competition Awards, including
Silver and Bronze awards in Traditional Debate, Lincoln-Douglas Debate, Extemporaneous Speaking, Impromptu Speaking, and Expository
Speech

I was the attorney coach for the El Dorado High School Mock Trial Program. From that, I was named:
Orange County Constitutional Rights Foundation Attorney Coach of the Year
Placentia/Yorba Linda School District Volunteer of the Year

I love to travel. My adventures have included shark diving and safaris in South Africa, zip lining and jungle exploring in Central America, and seeking out historic sites and native animals in Southeast Asia.

My wife and I have been married for 49 years. We have two adult children, four grandchildren, and one great grandson.
